I’m your new credit card bestie. When it comes to travel, I have champagne taste (who doesn’t love room service in bed at a 5-star hotel), but I’m on a beer budget. I’m here to teach you that you can travel luxuriously for pennies on the dollar, thanks to credit card points.
The card_name is a premium rewards card that stands out for its high earning potential in dining and grocery shopping. With a hefty list of card benefits, such as $120 Dining credit and $120 in Uber Cash, it’s a front-runner for those interested in premium credit cards. My favorite thing about the card? It offers 4x on restaurants (up to $50k per year, then 1x the rest of the year) and 4x on U.S. supermarkets (up to $25k per year, then 1x the rest of the year). This is the right card for a family whose grocery bill seems to be expanding.
With a $325 annual fee, you’ll have to do the math to ensure this card is right for you. Most people can take advantage of the extensive card credits and justify the annual fee. For rates and fees of the card_name, please see Rates and Fees
Earning Rewards:
Flexible Redemption: Points can be redeemed for travel, statement credits, or gift cards, giving you plenty of options.
Dining Credits:
Travel Benefits: Includes car rental loss and damage insurance, baggage insurance, and access to travel assistance services.
No Foreign Transaction Fees
Exclusive Events and Offers: Cardholders often get access to exclusive experiences, concerts, and dining events.
The Hotel Collection: $100 credit towards eligible charges when you book a minimum two-night stay at The Hotel Collection through Amex Travel.
American Express personal cards have what is called “Family Language”. To receive the welcome offer for the American Express Gold card, you must not have ever received the welcome offer on the American Express Platinum card. To receive the welcome offer on the American Express Green card, you must not have ever received the welcome offer on the American Express Platinum or American Express Gold card.
Therefore, I suggest starting with the American Express Green card, then the American Express Gold, and then the American Express Platinum.
This is a solid card for those with large restaurant and grocery spending. The 4x points benefit allows you to earn Membership Rewards quickly.
If the high annual fee of the American Express Gold card is a turnoff, here are some other options.
Chase Sapphire Preferred: Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
Capital One Venture: 75,000 Miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening
The American Express Gold Card is a fantastic option for those with high restaurant and grocery bills. However, the annual fee means it may not be suitable for everyone. Consider which credits and benefits you may use and weigh those against the cost of the annual fee, as well as your points-earning potential.
